Meet Valerie McDonnell, MA, c.o. 〰️

Welcome!

My name is Valerie McDonnell, and since 2009, I’ve been a licensed counsellor with l’ordre des conseillers et conseillères d’orientation du Québec (OCCOQ #19304-09). I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from McGill University, along with specialized training in cognitive and behavioural assessment for adults. I am currently advancing my credentials by completing a stage in psychotherapy at Zikman & Associates Psychology Clinic under the supervision of Ian Zikman, psychologist.

I have worked with adults, adolescents, and children in private practice, offering diagnostic evaluations to help people better understand their learning, attention, and emotional needs. I have also supported individuals in community settings and through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, workplace stress, conflict, self-esteem, ADHD, relationship challenges, and academic difficulties.

What inspires me most is the unique story each person brings, and I look forward to learning about yours. I believe that, with the right support, everyone can reconnect with their strengths and move forward with greater clarity and confidence. I'm here to give you that support! My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and tailored to you. Life can be overwhelming, and it’s normal to feel uncertain about seeking help. My role is to walk alongside you, creating a safe space where you can work through your challenges and make meaningful changes at a pace that feels right for you.

I use evidence-based methods like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, always adapting them to fit your unique situation. Together, we can identify practical strategies, gently build your confidence, and help you feel more grounded and in control, without pressure or judgment.

I'm grateful to be part of your journey and look forward to supporting you as we begin this important work together.
